Hydracrete-SBR
Since 1923, the concept of latex-hydraulic cement mix design started. But practically the use of latex modified mortars and concretes started in the 1960s. In almost all developed countries like America, Europe, Japan, and USSR the practical application were started in the 1960s only.

Latex - cement combination in cement mortar and concrete is governed by both the cement mortar and concrete is governed by both the cement hydration and latex polymer film formation processes in their binder phase. In the process, a 'co-matrix' phase is formed by both cement hydration & polymer film formation. The properties of ordinary cement mortar and concrete are generally improved to a great extent by latex modification. In latex modified mortar and concrete , it appears that the micro cracks are bridged by the polymer films or membranes which prevents crack propagation and simultaneously, a strong cement hydrate-aggregate bond is formed. The sealing effect due to polymer film formed in the structure also provides a considerable increase in waterproofness, resistance to chloride ion penetration, moisture transmission, carbonation, oxygen diffusion, chemical resistanceabd freeze-thaw durability.

Benefits
  • Easy to mix & use.

  • Provides good workability.

  • Markedly improved water retention-help in cement hydration.

  • Resistance to bleeding and segregationis excellent.

  • A noticeable increase in tensile and flexural strength but no improvement in compressive strength.

  • The surface hardness of latex modified concrete is improved.

  • Provides a higher deformation, ductility and elasticity - modulus of elasticity is smaller (0.001-10 x 104 kgf/Cm2)

  • then the conventional concrete (10 - 30 x 104 kgf/cm2)

  • The drying shrinkage ma be smaller dependent on latex / cement ratio.

  • Latex modified mortar and concrete usually have coefficient of thermal expansion equal to or slightly more than that of conventional concrete.

  • Modification reduces water absorption , water permeability, water avapour transmission. improves waterproofness.

  • Improved bond strength to various substrates.

  • Excellent impact resistance.

  • Resistant to alkalies but not resistant to inorganic-organic acids and sulfates.

  • The chloride ion permeability is low.

  • Improved resistance to freezing & thawing.
